SOMEWHERE ALONG THE LINES

Somewhere along the lines, a generation emerged that began to embrace the culture of the world, idolized it, and began to reproduce it inside the walls of the church. So instead of carrying a legacy of faith grafted from the culture of the true kingdom of God and the word of God, they carried a watered-down version of faith born from the idolatry and the getting of material things of this world. Instead of showing a deep reverence and the fear of the Lord to the generations that now follow, we now see a generation that mocks God and makes jokes and comedy as they quote from the holy Scriptures.

We did not show them the crucified Christ, we offered them flesh, walking after the flesh instead of the true struggle of the Spirit led spiritual walk. We gave in to what drew the lust of our eyes. Instead of pleasing God, we traded it for glamor and the promise of fame and popularity by way of faith. We married the culture of the world to the church when we should have married the church to Christ. Instead of preparing to be the bride, we opted to play the harlot. With divided hearts we handed down the practice of loving and embracing the world while claiming to love Christ. No man can serve two masters.

In our zeal to create a relevant church or ministry we mirrored the practices of the world. Instead of modeling the life lived in Christ, governed by the word of God we took counsel from familiar worldly voices above the still small voice of the Lord. As we continued this path, by and by we could no longer recognize the faith we once so desperately tarried for on our knees. The true seekers of God would become a dying breed. It would be trivialized by grace preaching, canceled by those who would say it does not take all of that, we have evolved, it is not that deep. Dismantled by those who are the sellers of the secret formulas for wealth and success. It would become a workshop for getting wealth instead of revivals for getting salvation. It would become admission fees, donations at the door instead of a freely you have received, freely you give doctrine of Jesus Christ. They will say the church is a business too and seek to justify continuation of the money tables that Jesus once overturned.

There is hope because God always has a remnant. The true remnant will rise up and are arising. Those who keep the standard of God. They will not be purchased like Judas with silver or gold or the wealth of the wicked. They will hold true to the mandate given them by God. They understand the significance of being rooted and grounded in the word of God and the power of spreading the true gospel. They do not fear the persecution that comes from living this life for Jesus Christ. The whole earth will be filled with the knowledge of God as the waters cover the seas. And there is a remnant that remains that will carry out the plan of God and expand the true kingdom of God in the earth.

We must repent from embracing the culture of the world and return to embracing the culture of the kingdom of God. The true church is not going underground, nor ducking and hiding, a remnant is coming forth who operate in the uncompromised counsel of the Lord and are guided by the wisdom of the Spirit for the times and times to come.
